About Me
At the height of my worst acne days, I had cystic acne that completely covered my cheeks with ugly and humongous pimples. It was such a bad experience for me that I barely ever left my house except to go to work or to school. Thankfully I eventually did discover a lot about acne that helped me get rid of it once and for all.
Well I guess I’ll tell you a little more about my story. Like most people, my battle with acne all began in high school. Except I was different from most people; my acne barely even registered to me because it was so mild. I had maybe one or two pimples on my face at a time. Honestly, I couldn’t be bothered with it; I had much more important things to worry about like sports, homework and those beautiful and mysterious creatures known as girls.
Soon after my graduation, however, I started to get more and more pimples on my skin. Now it was becoming a bit of a problem; whereas I only had one or two pimples, now I was getting several all over my face. It was right about here I started using different products. I went the typical route; off to CVS I went for Oxy Pads and other such treatments. When those didn’t work, I inevitably discovered Proactiv on an infomercial.
Of course, Proactiv didn’t work either. I tried some other solutions that I found online and, surprise, surprise, they didn’t work either. I eventually made an appointment with a dermatologist who gave Retin-A, a name brand retinol. Basically, it’s an external form of Vitamin A…I don’t know exactly how it works, but admittedly, it works pretty well. Especially when seeing the complete failure track record I had when using everything else.
Now the problem with Retinols is they make your skin very sensitive and they will drive you downright INSANE with the amount of itching they cause. I would wake up with scratches on my face because I had been itching during my sleep. Also, I’d have to keep taking this product if I wanted to stay clear. Money wise and….itchy-wise?….that wasn’t an option.
So here I was; 23 with awful cystic acne that completely covered my cheeks and the only solution was worse than the problem. I really had no idea what to do at this point and was even thinking about begging to be put on accutane despite its ridiculous side effects (think retinols x 100). I’m not even sure how I started down the road I did at this time, but I eventually got into more natural options for curing my acne. I used things like baking soda, apple cider vinegar, castor oil, jojoba oil and a bunch of others.
My skin did quite the turn around at this point and I quickly learned it was because I was no longer using harsh chemicals on it anymore. The natural products helped my skin heal itself rather than trying to rely on those chemicals which were only holding my skin’s health back. There was just one, small problem, though. I still had acne, albeit not nearly as bad I had it before.
Rather than consigning myself to a life of pimples and crazy routines that I had to follow everyday, I knew there had to be something better. After tons and tons (and tons) of researching and looking for answers, I finally discovered the real causes of acne were all internal. In other words, I was basically wasting my time by putting stuff on my skin. Since I had been ignoring the problems within, my acne just kept coming back over and over.
When I finally learned of the real causes of acne, such as insulin build up, not drinking enough water, IGF-1 and others, I soon discovered a fantastic model for getting completely clear skin.
So here I am now 28 years old at the time of this writing and I’ve had clear skin ever since. Oh sure I still get one or two pimples here and there, but they are few and far between and they clear up very quickly.
So I really hope you get some good information on my site. I really want to help people get some real answers to curing their acne once and for all.
