Photodynamic therapy was originally developed for the treatment of cancer . PPP is currently utilizing 3 brand new levulan protocols for the treatment of acne. The cause of acne is multi factorial. The bacterium P. acnes is responsible for the majority of cases of acne, which is also aggravated by excessive sebum production by sebaceous glands. Research has demonstrated, that visible light has the ability to destroy the bacteria causing acne by activation of topically applied Levulan®. In addition, Levulan® is able to shrink sebaceous glands, which also play a role in the cause of acne. Recent studies have shown that weekly treatments using topically applied Levulan® followed by light activation have resulted in remarkable improvement in the severity of patients\' acne.

I had this shit done, my blu-light was where I layed on a bed though. I had 2 treatments, and they were Extreme PAINFUL afterwards. It was the equivelant of a mild fire burn for about 1 day, after that, extreme dryness and peeling, and then after 2 weeks my skin looked AMAZING.
My acne dried out, and I still have had great success years later
My doctor told me Models use this stuff weeks before a photoshoot. Only problem no sunshine allowed. Felt like Brad Pitt after this treatment was done.
